National Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Month

Preventing child abuse and neglect is not just about keeping people with bad intentions away from children, it is also about supporting and educating parents and families about raising children with the pressures of today.

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. Scale Strategic Solutions has worked with service providers in Southwest and West Ohio to get parent feedback about training and support offered through Ohio’s primary public resource for prevention of child abuse and neglect, the Ohio Children’s Trust Fund.

Our focus group inquiries pinpoint ways to help parents and caregivers enhance the five protective factors for strengthening families:

  • Parental Resilience
  • Social Connections
  • Knowledge of Parenting & Child Development
  • Concrete Support in Times of Need
  • Social and Emotional Competence of Children

These protective factors are key to supporting parents and other caregivers. We look forward to continuing our work with families and communities to help prevent further child abuse and neglect.
